ONYX FURNITURE
INSTALLATION, CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDE
For objects designed to live beautifully, indoors and out.
At Olive Ateliers, we believe in the beauty of age and authenticity. Our Onyx furniture is crafted to live with you, to weather, and wear naturally over time. Care and maintenance are yours to choose — preserve your objects to maintain their original finish, or let them evolve into a characterful patina, reminiscent of found vintage treasures. Either way, they will remain honest to their material soul.
Below, you’ll find simple, clear guidance for installation, care and upkeep of Onyx Furniture.
INSTALLING YOUR ONYX FURNITURE
Each piece of our Onyx furniture is crafted to the highest structural and aesthetic standards. Carved from solid onyx, these pieces are as enduring as beautiful.
Installation is straightforward: simply place any pedestals at your desired spacing, then set the top(s) in place, ensuring balance and proportionate overhang.
Due to natural variations in flooring or slight inconsistencies in the surfaces, you may notice minor gaps between the pedestal and the floor or the pedestal(s) and the top. This is not to worry. To level and secure the tabletop, we have provided durable plastic shims to correct any imbalances.
For added stability for table tops without multiple legs or brackets, we have provided a 4oz tube of Loctite PL Premium Max Construction Adhesive waterproof adhesive for a secure yet reversible bond. Please carefully follow the instructions on the bottle to complete this installation step, securing the table top to the pedestal, as desired for comfort and safety.
CARE & CLEANING
Our Onyx Furniture pieces are hand-finished and require minimal upkeep. With time, they will develop a natural patina that adds to their character. For regular cleaning, a gentle solution of warm water and mild soap is all that’s needed to remove indoor or outdoor buildup.
For regular upkeep, simply wipe surfaces free of dust and debris and clean with a gentle solution as above. Spot clean promptly after spills. Allow to fully dry before continued use.
Should small chips, scratches, or dulling occur, you may need to hire a professional stone polisher to restore the surface.
A FINAL NOTE ON NATURAL AGING
Outdoor environments are wonderfully unpredictable. Temperature shifts, sunlight, moisture, and even the passage of time will each leave their mark on your Olive Ateliers objects. Embrace these changes as part of the life of your furniture and accessories. Whether you choose regular maintenance or let nature take its course, your objects will continue to tell their story, season after season.
